The famed Hamsa hand symbol traces its origins from ancient Arabia when it was used to ward off djinn spirits. Today the Hamsa it continues to stand as a talisman for protection and luck. The actual word "Hamsa" is derived from the Arabic word khamsa which means "five," referring to the five fingers of the hand. You can wear the ring with the Hamsa hand upright when you want it to offer protection. Turn the ring the other way so the Hamsa faces down and you're now inviting blessings and fertility. The rich origins of Hamsa spreads across multiple faiths as it is known as the Hand of Fatima (daughter of the Prophet Muhammad) as well as the Hand of Miriam (sister of Moses), and has even been associated with the Virgin Mary. We've elected to add extra protection to the Hamsa with the addition of the eye engraving to protect against negative energies. Sometimes the Hamsa is intricately decorated, but we've chosen preserve a cleaner look to match our black tungsten band.
